The Town of Halton Hills retained Meridian Planning Consultants Inc. to undertake the School Site Land Use Planning Study through a five phase planning process as follows: Phase 1: Background Analysis and Issue Identification Phase 2: School Site Policy and Regulatory Options Phase 3: Preferred Policy and Regulatory Alternative Phase 4: Initial Policy Formulation Phase 5: Final Policy and Regulatory Formulation The purpose of the study is to recommend an appropriate land use policy and regulatory approach for adoption by the Town for existing and future school sites and an appropriate land use planning process to be adopted when the whole or part of a school site is to be declared surplus. To implement the final recommendations of the study, a draft Official Plan Amendment (the key deliverable for Phase 4) has been prepared for public consultation. Members of the public are encouraged to attend the public open house and/or statutory public meeting to provide their c o m m e n t s o n t h e d r a f t O ff i c i a l P l a n Amendment. Details of the public open house and statutory public meeting are as described below. The format of the statutory public meeting includes a presentation during the Council meeting, followed by an opportunity to ask questions or make comments on the study. Following these meetings, Town staff and Meridian will prepare responses to all oral and written submissions received on the draft memorandum and draft Official Plan Amendment and provide a final recommendation regarding passage of the Official Plan Amendment. If a person or public body does not make oral submissions at a public meeting or make a written submission to the Town of Halton Hills before the Official Plan Amendment is adopted: · The person or public body is not entitled to appeal the decision of the Town of Halton Hills Council to the Ontario Municipal Board; and · The person or public body may not be added as a party to the hearing if an appeal before the Ontario Municipal Board unless, in the opinion of the Board, there are reasonable grounds to add the person or public body as a party. If you wish to be notified of the adoption of the Official Plan Amendment, you must make a written request to the Town of Halton Hills Planning Development and Sustainability Department, 1 Halton Hills Drive, Ontario, L7G 5G2. A recent MADD initiative surveyed students for their reactions and thoughts immediately after viewing the film then three months later. Results revealed some had changed their habits. "There will always be some who are harder to reach but if we can save one life in a school, it will have been well worth it for us," said Kristensen. A key message MADD is trying to reinforce it not to get into a vehicle with an impaired driver. "Young women are less likely to drive impaired but more likely to get into a car with an impaired driver," said Kristensen.
