Halton Take plastic shopping bags back to local retailers to be recycled. Look for a bin at the front of the store, or ask at the customer service desk. Take It Back! Halton partners easily recycle plastic shopping bags into more bags or into plastic lumber because the bags don't have to be sorted and are not contaminated from other materials. Georgetown Bach Chorale jazzes up its first show of the season On Saturday, Oct. 29, the Georgetown Bach Chorale will present their first event of the season. This is the third annual jazz night paired with a multi-course gourmet dinner. Due to the past success of this culinary extravaganza and musical soiree, the Chorale has moved this popular event from the intimacy of 157 Main Street to an equally warm and inviting setting at St. George's Anglican Church, 60 Guelph Street. All food for the evening will be prepared by Yvonne Oldaker, who helps make Bach Chorale events so memorable with the magic of her hands in the kitchen. Singers will complement the evening with suitable numbers such as My Funny Valentine, Satin Doll, Hit that Jive Jack, Some Enchanted Evening, and Music of the Night, to name but a few. Vocal solos, duets, and quartets will be accompanied by a jazz combo featuring the extremely talented Aaron Carter on stand up bass, the very gifted Evan Flynn on drums, and of course Artistic Director Ron Greidanus on jazz piano. It's not every day that one can dine locally and be entertained by such talent; it's like having a Montreal Bistro in downtown Georgetown. For $75 come and enjoy this marvelous evening of food and song. Tickets -- in advance only-- are available at Foodstuffs, 89 Main Street South, 905 877-6569, Pat's Prime Cuts & Deli, 333 Mountainview Road South #10, 905 873-0352, or on their website www.georgetownbachchorale.com.
