Peewee DS Twisters tops at Classic With a 1-0 victory over Whitby in the final, the North Halton peewee development stream Twisters earned the championship for their division at the Orangeville Winter Classic Girls' Hockey Tournament. It's the first year that the Ontario Women's Hockey Association has offered the development stream level, which is similar to select in boys' hockey. Submitted photo Local non-boating teen wins top angler honour It is incredible to win the Angler of the Year title as a nonboater but that accomplishment is beginning to sink in for Derek Neumann. The 17-year-old Georgetown resident joined Mississauga Bassmasters early in 2011 with the encouragement of an aunt, who is a member of the club, to pursue his love for competitive bass fishing. At season's end, Derek achieved the highest overall points accumulated through the 2011 club tournament schedule as a non-boater. In addition to competing in six qualifying bass tournaments, Neumann also represented the Mississauga Bassmasters chapter in the 2011 OBFN (Ontario Bass Federation Nation) Hank Gibson Provincial Qualifier held on the Ottawa River in late August. The dream to make Team Ontario and compete in the U.S. will have to wait another year in another body of water. Allowing just three goals against in four games, the North Halton Twisters won the peewee DS division title at a tournament in Orangeville.
