Tour of Lights brightens rainy evening for Acton Seniors By JULIE CONROY Acton Seniors Centre The weeks building up to Christmas is very busy at the Acton Seniors Centre. Earlier this week we had the junior and senior choirs from St. Joseph School entertain us with their wonderful singing. They looked very Christmassy with their Santa hats, reindeer antlers and pretty dresses. Everyone enjoyed them. In the afternoon Fifth Ave Jewellers was here and people purchased some of the beautiful articles either as a gift for someone else or for themselves. If you are visiting friends over the holiday season and are looking for the perfect hostess gift, our delicious Christmas fruit cakes fit the bill. We even have people that take them south for their extended winter holidays. Just a little reminder to our snowbirds. Memberships should be renewed by Dec. 31. It is a bargain at $25 per year. Approximately 100 (one-third) of our members have renewed their membership. It may have been a dark and rainy evening on Wednesday, Dec. 13, but the colourful displays of lights shone out brightly. Eleven people enjoyed touring in the Tyler bus. They visited various locations in Georgetown, Norval and Acton. The Centre would like to thank Ted Tyler for donating the bus again this year, volunteer driver Willy Halladay, Pat Frizzell who helped research the best lighting displays and Sylvia Mitchell who accompanied the group. Waiting back at the Centre with goodies and hot drinks were our own Santa helpers, Mary Walsma and Connie Fix. On Thursday afternoon Shirley Hunter had the only mooner playing Bid Euchre. Are you home between Christmas and the New Year? The Centre will be open from Tuesday to Friday.
