Atom AA Hornets deny London, again The London Devilettes might not want to invite the Oakville atom AA Hornets back to their annual girls' hockey tournament. Oakville recently edged London 1-0 in a shootout to win the championship game at the Devilettes tournament, making the second straight year the Hornets have defeated the hometown team in the final. Catherine Trevors provided the gamewinning goal for the Hornets, scoring on a backhand deke. Trevors' goal came while Oakville goaltender Andrea Fausto was making a leg save on the opposite end of the rink. The gold in London was Oakville's third in four tournaments this season. Earlier this year, the Hornets won a tournament in Oshawa as well as their own Hornets Fall Classic, and also collected silver at the Bell Capital Cup. The Hornets outscored their opposition 15-2 at the London tournament. Other members of the team are Megan Harley, Julia Baumann, Karley Merkley, Laura Cote, Chloe Saxton, Hannah Rettinger, Rylee Davidson, Emmy-Lou O'Neill, Hayley Lahn, Jenny Schwichtenberg, Mikayla Hanson, Tara McInnis, Isabelle Hardy, Meghan Grouix and Emily Wilson. Dominick Hardy, Dave Wilson and Thom Harley coach the Hornets, and Andrea Grouix is the trainer. LONDON'S FINEST: A 4-0 win over Barrie in the final completed a clean sweep for the Oakville minor bantam Rebels at the recent Neil Barker Memorial Classic hockey tournament in London.
