Breakfast is to honour women at a fun event Continued from page 10 11 · Wednesday, March 7, 2012 OAKVILLE BEAVER · www.insideHALTON.com Dalzell is the executive director of human resources at CBC and will speak about women in the workforce. "It's going to be a fun breakfast for the women of the community to get together and have a good time," Meta said. The idea for the breakfast was introduced after some teachers at the school attended a similar event in Burlington. After hearing about the Burlington event, the council, which consists of about 30 students, began organizing its own event. "This is to honour women on the day and to have breakfast where women of the community can get together," Meta said. The group hopes the event continues on and becomes an annual tradition in Oakville. The council is inviting girls from feeder elementary schools, nearby high schools, teachers and women of the community. The group has received sponsorships to help pay for the costs of the breakfast. The Young Women In Leadership council meets on a weekly basis. The group also puts on weeklong Women's Day activities at the school. They have participated in Run For The Cure and conducted a Being You campaign. They visit nearby elementary schools to talk to students about self-esteem, inner-beauty and other topics. Women hoping to attend the breakfast are asked to call the school to register at 905-827-4101. Cost details will be provided by phone.
