The four-day competition will feature the top 15- and 16-year-old downhill skiers from across the country. Two super-G races, one giant slalom race and one slalom event will comprise the event. The top five J1 athletes in each discipline will qualify for the Canadian senior championship, and the firstplace finishers in each discipline will qualify to attend an Alpine Canada prospect camp. Hobbs has trained a minimum of four days a week on snow and competed in many different races this season in order to qualify for this week's nationals. "I realize I wouldn't have been able to attain my goals had it not been for the support of coaches, family, Alpine Ski Club and the staff at White Oaks Secondary School," Hobbs said. "The school has been very supportive in my quest to compete at the (Federation Internationale de Ski) level." B.C. Hornets participating in Winter Games The Oakville Girls Hockey Association will be wellrepresented at the Ontario Winter Games this week in Collingwood. Twelve Hornets players were selected to participate in the Games, which begin tomorow (Thursday) and conclude Sunday. Kameron Halsall, Claire Merrick, Sarah McDonnell, Tristyn Svetek, Rhiannon Ford, Jacinta Kennedy, Kaitlyn Simpson, Taylor McMahon, Sarah Hine, Kristin O'Neill, Jessica Geddes and Cassidy MacPherson will play for various teams at the competition. More than 500 players participated in a series of tryout camps throughout Ontario during last summer and fall. The camps were geared for the identification of the top female hockey players in the 199798 birth years. Only 160 players were selected to participate in girls' hockey at the Ontario Winter Games.
