Approval brings the total number of properties on the Town's Heritage Register to 415. The listing does not require property owners to get heritage permits to make changes to their property, but it does allow the Town to delay issuance of a demolition permit for 60 days while conservation options are considered. But four property owners objected to the listing: 12-14 Adamson St. in Norval, and 16 Guelph St., 48 Queen St./2 Murdock St. and 37 Charles St. in Georgetown. Yoav Hadany told council at the December meeting he saw no reason why his property at 16 Guelph St.-- the home of Beautiful Petsshould be listed. He said its heritage value is limited due to repeated alterations, with only five per cent of the façade left. He said there are better examples across the road that were not put on the Heritage List. Describing his building as "essentially a dog house", Hadany said the Heritage List should have "some kind of restraint and more exclusivity."
