Oakville businesses shine at awards gala presentation Oakville's exceptional business leaders were singled out last week, during the Oakville Awards for Business Excellence (OABE) gala. The awards, organized by the Rotary Club of Oakville and the Oakville Chamber of Commerce, saw 48 businesses nominated across six categories. The Wine Ladies took home the Entrepreneur of the Year award, which recognizes an individual who personally exhibits extraordinary entrepreneurship, energy, inspiration, leadership and/or innovation in their business pursuits. Georgia Mense-Chase and her sister, Susanne Seelig-Mense, were honoured for their work promoting food, wine and lifestyle as TV and radio personalities, columnists, event hosts, planners and marketers. Genworth Financial Canada, a supplier of mortgage default insurance, was named Community Builder of the Year. This award recognizes a company or individual that has demonstrated exemplary business practices, dedicated involvement and commitment to community service and volunteer programs. Plastic processing company Fourmark Manufacturing Inc. received the award for Large Company of the Year. This award recognizes an Oakville company with more than 20 employees, which serves the national and international market, has already been recognized by their industry, and is deeply involved in the community. The Professional Service Provider of the Year Award went to MEDIchair Halton. The award recognizes a person or company that consistently offers extraordinary service, community support and client management in their professional service role, which can be related to personal health care, wellness or fitness, legal/financial insurance, real-estate, engineering, accounting, consulting, business coaching, information and communication technology, printing, marketing, home maintenance, repair or landscaping. The Restaurant/ H o s p i t a l i t y / To u r i s m Provider of the Year Award went to Homewood Suites by Hilton Toronto/Oakville. "This winner of the Restaurant/Hospitality/ Tourism Provider of the Year award focuses its attention on detail in providing service to all of its clients. This company has recently won a number of awards of merit in its peer group for outstanding service and quality," said Roberto Ficzere, director of business development and marketing at Oakville Conference Centre as he presented the award. "It has scored outstanding results on randomly sent client satisfaction surveys. It supports many local charitable and not for profit initiatives in the community. It is a leading hotel, which strives to provide excellent service and all of the comforts of home for all of its guests including its many extended stay clients." Factory Tile Depot Oakville, an importer/ supplier of ceramic/porcelain tiles from around the world, received the Small Company of the Year Award.
