Earth Hour March 31 Halton Region announced Friday it will once again join communities around the world by turning out the lights for Earth Hour on Saturday, March 31. From 8:30-9:30 p.m., lights and non-essential electrical equipment at Regional facilities (that do not compromise public safety or interfere with essential services) will be turned off to mark the occasion. Earth Hour, a global initiative led by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), encourages communities and individuals to turn out their lights for one hour to symbolize their commitment to fighting climate change. "At Halton Region we are committed to reducing our ecological footprint and integrating sustainable practices into our operations," said Regional Chair Gary Carr. Police said suspect(s) entered a yard at 1101 North Service Rd. E. on Friday, March 9, and stole the vehicle from its parking space. The stolen semitractor had an Ontario licence plate of 1251XB. The 53-foot white trailer, with the number 815 on the back, had an Alberta licence plate that read R90012.
