Oakville was eliminated in the second round of the Provincial Women's Hockey League (PWHL) playoffs last weekend by the Toronto Aeros, who finished off a threegame sweep of Oakville with a 4-0 victory Saturday in Toronto. The Aeros, who lost just once in regulation time during the regular season, outshot Oakville 72-16 on Saturday and 154-49 overall in the series. Toronto opened the series with a 5-2 victory Thursday, then downed the Hornets 4-2 Friday at Joshua's Creek Arenas to set up Saturday's elimination game. Melani Moylan had both the Hornets' goals in Game 1, while Victoria Bach netted both Oakville's markers in Game 2. Hornets netminder Camille Leonard stopped 141 of the 154 shots she faced in the series, including a 68-save effort in the final game. The Hornets were 13th in the PWHL standings during the regular season, posting a record of 10-21-3, but upset the fourthplace London Devilettes in the first round of the playoffs. Despite elimination from the PWHL playoffs, the Hornets' season is not over. The team will compete in the Ontario Women's Hockey Association championship tournament April 13-15 in Mississauga. Reinders, an offensive tackle, inked the deal with the Giants last week. The 6-foot-8, 317-pound Reinders' CFL rights are held by the Toronto Argonauts, who selected him two years ago out of the University of Waterloo. Reinders attended the Cleveland Browns' training camp in 2010 but was released. The 25-year-old did not play football until his third year at Waterloo. He played two years of university basketball for the Warriors before quitting the team, and tried out for Waterloo's football team the following spring. Oakville entered the final with a 2-0-2 mark. The Rangers' wins came over the Hamilton Bulldogs (2-1) and Whitby Wildcats (3-1), with the ties coming against the Burlington Eagles (2-2) and Markham (4-4). O'Hara tied for the tournament scoring lead, collecting four goals and three assists in five games. Michael Vukojevic and Dylan Jackson added two goals each, with Alton McDermott, Will Thomas and Ty Jackson also finding the net. Duncan Penman and Ty Jackson had three assists each.
