The Terry Flanagan Award is given annually to an upperclassman that has overcome some type of personal adversity and is active on the university campus and surrounding community. Monardo broke a vertebrae in his neck during a regular-season game with the Blades in 2007. He returned to the Ontario Provincial Junior A Hockey League to captain the Aurora Tigers the following year. Monardo led Lake Superior State in scoring as a junior this past season, collecting 11 goals and 18 assists in 39 games. Goalie named to SUNYAC rookie team Local goaltender Dylan Ellis was recently named to the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) all-rookie team. Ellis posted a 4-5 record and a 3.90 goals-against average in conference play this season for the Potsdam Bears. Oswego State defenceman Taylor Farris received honourable mention for the league's best-defensive-defenceman award. Farris was in his third season with Oswego State after playing junior A hockey with the Oakville Blades.
