A 4-1 home victory over the dead-last Brampton Capitals Saturday night, coupled with the second-place Oakville Blades' 3-1 loss to the Aurora Tigers Sunday, the 36-9-1 Raiders clinched top spot in the division for the first time since the 2008-09 campaign. Georgetown still had three regular-season games remaining heading into Buffalo to take on the Jr. Sabres Monday night. They'll also host the Jr. Sabres Saturday at the Alcott Arena at 7:30 p.m. and travel to Burlington Sunday to face the Cougars at 3 p.m. to close out the schedule. The top two teams in each division will receive an opening-round playoff bye, while third place plays sixth and fourth takes on the fifth seed in best-of-5 divisional quarterfinal series, meaning that the Raiders likely won't begin the post-season until Feb. 22. It's still possible for Georgetown to finish first overall in the 27-team OJHL, with Newmarket, Trenton and St. Michael's only a couple of points ahead of the Raiders entering the final week of the regular season. The Raiders have won eight straight games and 19 of their last 20. In the win over Brampton, Raider leading scorer Stephen Genua tallied twice and added two assists to garner firststar honours. The 20-year-old from Vaughan has 23 points in his last seven starts. Jacob Bauchman and Ryan Lopes also scored in the victory and Steve Racine made 23 saves for the win in goal. For Cambridge Cup tourney The Georgetown Racquet Club will host some of the best squash players in the world at a special event to be held on the evening of Wednesday, Feb. 29.
