Photo by Marilyn Edridge CARRIERS NEEDED GEORGETOWN River Drive Guelph Street Queen Street Elizabeth Street Ewing Street King Street McNabb Street John Street Lynden Circle George Street Local playwright's play to premiere in Caledon By MARILYN EDRIDGE Caledon Townhall Players The Caledon Townhall Players are delighted to present the world premiere of Can Lightning Strike Twice?. This lively farce by Roxanne Thornton of Georgetown, is set in a run-down studio apartment in a large, Victorian house in Acton. The hapless hero, Howard Ducksworthy, is a struggling, middle-aged writer and fall guy, played with quiet intensity by Steve Rossiter of Erin. His peaceful solitude is shattered one evening during a lightning storm with the arrival of his best friend Don Defleur and the irate ladies who are pursuing him. Don, played by J. Van Olst of Georgetown, is an oldfashioned heel who uses his charm and sex appeal to lure the ladies, whom he callously uses and discards. Don dives for cover when the gun-wielding Molly arrives threatening to change him from a rooster to a hen. Molly, played with gusto by Pamela Niesiobedzki of Erin, is a woman wronged and she is out for his blood. Hotly in pursuit of her is Charlene, Don's sexy, young mistress and the cause of Molly's anger. She arrives full of fight to protect her `Donsy Wonsy' from Molly's rage. Linda Smith of Acton plays the somewhat ditsy Charlene with an airy charm. The ensuing mayhem brings an officious cop to the scene followed by Howards's emotionally overwrought and feeble-minded landlady, both played with great whimsy by Daniel Olien of Caledon. This play has it all...action, mystery, sex, robbery and finally, retribution. It is a wild ride with many twists and turns in the plot. Can lightning strike twice? It certainly can if, like Don Defleur, you refuse to reform your lying cheating ways. Directed by Ian O'Brien of Georgetown, this captivating play opens on February 16th and runs consecutive weekends until March 3rd. Show times are 8:15 p.m. evenings with a gala matinee on Feb. 25th at 2:15p.m. Tickets are $15 and $12 respectively. Dinner theatre on Feb. 25 at Knox United Church, at 6:30 p.m. is $28.
