Raider winger aims for U.S. scholarship Continued from pg. 1 "When I was six years old, after the game I'd go into the locker room with my little gloves and stick and the players would play with me, so it was just a blast growing up around that." Dad Bob, a Toronto native, left the Griffins last summer to become President and Governor for the AHL's Hamilton Bulldogs and the family moved back to this area. Most Toronto Maple Leaf fans will remember Dan's grandfather Gerry, who made seven appearances with the team as a goalie in the 1960s and was GM for the club from 1981-88, earning a Stanley Cup ring as a scout with the Calgary Flames in 1989. Dan, a 6-foot, 190-pound forward, spent last season with the Waterloo (Iowa) Black Hawks of the USHL before asking for a trade this past fall. His uncle Dave, a scout for the Pittsburgh Penguins who teaches at Loyola High School in Oakville, spoke with Georgetown head coach and GM Greg Walters in the fall and Dan signed with the Raiders soon after. "It was great to have that support system where you're surrounded by people who've been around the game their whole lives," he added. So far, McNamara has been an effective energy player for Walters, collecting seven goals and 11 assists in 30 games while putting the heat on opposing defencemen in the Raiders' aggressive forechecking strategy. His goal is to land a scholarship with a U.S. Division I school. "Dan's a hard worker with a good compete level, a great kid on and off the ice, Walters said. "We've been really lucky this year finding quality kids." Through McNamara's connection to the Bulldogs, the Raiders had hoped to hold a practice outdoors at Ivor Wynne Stadium around the time the AHL Winter Classic was being hosted by Hamilton last month, but clashing schedules wouldn't permit it. "Unfortunately it didn't happen, but with the week we have off with the (first-round playoff) bye, we'll probably do something fun to try to break things up a little," Walters said. 7 The IFP · RAIDER PLAYOFF PREVIEW * Halton Hills, Thursday, February 16, 2012 Big winner in Rona Shoot to Win contest Derek Ellard (far right) was right on target to earn a $500 gift certificate from Rona Georgetown in the recent Shoot to Win contest sponsored by the local hardware and home improvement centre during the intermission of a Georgetown Jr. A Raiders' game against the Brampton Capitals. It is important to find out the reasons why she is not letting you see the children so that those issues can be looked at and you can try and resolve them. Parenting counselling can often help with this issue or you could try mediation. You have a right to see your children as well as receive information about them. You should discuss this issue with a lawyer even if you are attending parenting counselling or mediation. A lawyer can also try to help resolve the issue, but if all else fails, it may be necessary to bring the matter before the Court and have a Judge review the matter and make an Order for the terms of your access.
