Vol. 50 No. 35 "Using Communication To Build Better Communities" Oakville council defers decision on cell towers By David Lea OAKVILLE BEAVER STAFF A discussion on how far from residential areas the Town of Oakville wants cell towers to be will have to wait for another day. Council voted Monday to defer an examination of its proposed final Radiocommunications Facilities Protocol to a special council meeting at a future date, which has yet to be determined. Oakville Mayor Rob Burton said a decision was postponed because some residents were concerned that interested parties still on March Break vacation would not be able to participate. Trucker charged in Monday rollover The driver of the tractor-trailer, which rolled over on top of an Oakville woman's car on Hwy. 403, near Dundas Street Monday, has been charged with careless driving under the Highway Traffic Act. The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Port Credit detachment announced Wednesday, it had charged the driver, a 52-year-old Mississauga man, following the conclusion of the investigation into the accident. The crash took place around 3 p.m. Monday, when a tractor-trailer, travelling on the westbound Hwy. 403 off ramp to Dundas Street, flipped on its side landing on top of a Mazda CX7, driven by a 38-year-old Oakville woman. Emergency crews spent two hours working to free the woman who was pinned precariously in her vehicle, under the truck. Amazingly she was not injured. The truck driver received minor injuries. It's to make sure we get through the summer months." Dudley Clark, Fareshare food bank, volunteer executive director ues through Saturday, April 7. Although Fareshare doesn't receive as much food at Easter as it does during its drives at Christmas and Thanksgiving, the timing of the spring drive is critical because it's the last one until Thanksgiving rolls around, said the food bank's volunteer executive director Dudley Clark.
