Oakville Transit Trip Planner now online Oakville Transit announced Wednesday, it has officially launched a new online transit trip planner in collaboration with Google. The Oakville Transit Trip Planner, which can be found at www.oakvilletransit.ca, uses Oakville Transit's scheduling data to help riders plan their trips. Participants simply need to enter their starting point, final destination, date of travel, when they want to start their trip, and click `Get Directions'. Google will display route options, walking times and even connections across municipal borders. "We're very excited to bring this service to Oakville. This will certainly help our residents and visitors find their way around town on Oakville Transit," said Oakville Mayor Rob Burton. "Council is committed to improving transit in every way possible and by working with Google, we can now offer a tool that makes taking the bus that much easier. This is yet another step in the evolution of Oakville Transit." The new planner can be accessed on mobile devices, such as iPhones, Blackberrys, and Windows Mobiles. "For our regular transit customers, this service will give them our transit schedules at their fingertips," said Oakville Transit Director Barry Cole. "For anyone who has not yet tried Oakville Transit, this is the time to try it. It's easy to use and takes the guessing game out of which route to take." To encourage the public to try out the new online trip planner, Oakville Transit is hosting a virtual scavenger hunt with a chance to win prizes. From March 26-April 20, residents who correctly answer all the scavenger hunt questions will have their name entered into a draw to win an iPad, a PRESTO travel pack, or a bicycle. For extra chances to win one-of-10 $25 PRESTO cards, residents can upload their photo, on or near a bus at any one of the scavenger hunt locations to www.facebook. com/townofoakville or Tweet it to @ townofoakville. The winners' names will be posted online the week of April 23.
