Numbers on Sunshine List are on the rise Continued from page 4 9 · Wednesday, March 28, 2012 OAKVILLE BEAVER · www.insideHALTON.com police service made the Sunshine List in 2009. Janice Coffin, the director of corporate communications and marketing for Halton police, said there are a number of reasons behind the increased police presence on the list. "The increase in the number of Halton Regional Police Service employees on the 2011 public sector salary disclosure list is primarily due to operational overtime related to major investigations such as the four homicides in Halton last year, and paid-duty wages for special events," said Coffin. "Paid-duty wages are not paid for by tax dollars. They are wages paid to officers by private organizations requiring police support for an event or function such as traffic control at construction jobs, wide load and funeral escorts, parades, schools dances, and large road races."
