The Town of Oakville had 151 employees make the Sunshine List in 2011, considerably more than last year's total of 121. A total of 118 Town employees made the list in 2009. The Town of Oakville's Chief Administrative Officer, Ray Green, was again the highestpaid Town employee, receiving $232,233.98 in salary and taxable benefits in 2011. Oakville Commissioner of Community Services Domenic Lunardo was the second-highest paid with $189,989.12, while Commissioner of Corporate Services Gord Lalonde, Commissioner of Planning and Development Jane Clohecy and Commissioner of Infrastructure Services David Bloomer followed -- each receiving $189,986.24 in 2011. Once again, being mayor didn't mean making the most money in Town. Oakville Mayor Rob Burton received $164,888.31 in salary and taxable benefits for Dr. Lorne Martin his work as both Oakville's mayor and as a regional councillor. Halton Region had 339 employees on the Sunshine List, up from 283 in 2010. A total of 209 Halton Region employees made the list in 2009. Regional Human Resources Director John Phelan said the $100,000 salary mark is no longer as unobtainable as it was when the government made it the Sunshine List threshold in 1996. "It's becoming a... I wouldn't say typical salary, but the positions we have here, police constables, paramedics, with their Jeff Zabudsky salary plus overtime, they are going to go over that threshold and that is a large population of people obviously," said Phelan. "It's the same with management positions. You are beginning to see $100,000 (as not) an unrealistic management salary." It was pointed out that if inflation were factored in since 1996, the disclosure threshold today would be $139,000. Halton Commissioner & Medical Officer of Health Dr. Robert Nosal ranked as the highest paid Regional employee with $298,283.78 in salary and taxable benefits. Regional Chief Administrative Dr. Robert Nosal Officer Patrick Moyle was the second-highest paid with $286,727 while Associate Medical Officer of Health Monier Taha had the third highest Region employee salary and taxable benefits at $261,004.87. Halton Regional Chair Gary Carr received $162,118.57 in salary and taxable benefits in 2011 while Halton Police Chief Gary Crowell received $227,220.19. The Region employees making more than $100,000 included 183 members of the Halton Regional Police Service, up from 165 in 2010. A total of 113 members of the See Numbers page 9
