DHTBF offers free art and music to teens in need This spring the Drew Hildebrand Teen Benefit Fund (DHTBF) is providing free art workshops and music lessons to high school aged students who need it most. Students will focus their energy in positive ways to find a path to a better life. Upcoming Free Spring Graffiti Art workshops will be held in April in Oakville and in May in Mississauga. In Oakville, they take place at the Glen Abbey Community Centre, 1415 Third Line on Tuesdays, April 3, 10, 17, 24 from 4-6 p.m. In Mississauga, they happen at The Dam, 6975 Meadowvale Town Centre Circle on Tuesdays/ Thursdays, May 1, 3, 8, 10, 15, 17, 22, 24 from 6-8 p.m. Music lessons are ongoing and applications are accepted at any time. Included are free instrument rentals and a series of four to eight lessons. To be eligible for consideration for the programs, students must be attending high school in Halton or Peel. To see the brochure or application, visit www.dhtbf.com To date, the DHTBF has awarded 15 scholarships to pursue postsecondary education. 2012 Scholarships will be awarded on June 10 at the fourth annual Race For Teens At-Risk, 10K Run, 5K Run/Walk at Coronation Park in Oakville. This new Music and Arts program was created to give youth a safe place to explore ideas and creativity during difficult times in their lives. The Ontario Trillium Foundation, Oakville Community Foundation and The DAM partner with the Drew Hildebrand Teen Benefit Fund. DHTBF is a registered charity operating in the Peel and Halton regions.
