- Description
- The Census Return (1881) enumerates farmer Edward McCann, wife Almira McCann and their children John, Laura, Edward, Albert, William and Herbert as a household in Trafalgar Township in the vicinity of Omagh. John's father, Edward had also been born in Omagh.
John McCann went to Alberta to work with native Canadians. He later returned to the Milton area.
The second photograph in this record shows him in later years, posed in a buggy. Handwritten on the photo mounting, "That Bay - Murray". - Notes
- Five generations of the McCann family have farmed in Omagh at 1427 Britannia Road West. There are no photographs of Logan McCann, also called "Dynamite McCann" who was a legend in the area from the 1920's to the 1960's. He blasted out the big rocks when farmers were digging wells.
