GIRARD , Albert Armand (October 7, 1920 - January 24, 2012) Our family announces, with great sadness, the passing of Armand Girard on Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at the age of 91. Armand was predeceased by his devoted and l o v i n g w i f e E v a Ve r g e a n d h i s beloved daughter MaryAnn Girard Baumgardt. Also he was predeceased by his siblings Jeanne, Jean Guy, Gilbert and Edouard. He is survived by his sons Frank (Barbara), Louis (Gini), James (Lucie) and Pierre (Claire). He will be dearly missed by his grandchildren Alison, Ted, Joe, David, Michael, Jaime, Andrew, Clint, Alex and Lianne and his greatgrandchildren Natalie, Samuel and Henry. He leaves behind his sole surviving sister, Pauline, and many nieces, nephews and dear friends in Chicoutimi and surrounding area. He will be missed especially by his most dear friend and companion, Cecile Manning, in Les Grandes B e r g e r o n n e s , a n d h e r f a m i l y. Armand had many friends on the Essipit Reserve where he was a h i g h l y r e s p e c t e d e l d e r. H e w a s member of the Royal Canadian Navy and a veteran of WWII. He was proud to be part of the team at the St. Lawrence Cement Company during his career with them. Armand passed away in Quebec City where he was undergoing treatment for a brief illness. We t h a n k t h e d o c t o r s a n d s t a ff o f L'Enfant Jesus Hospital in Quebec City and also the doctors and staff of the Hotel Dieu Hospital in Chicoutimi for their efforts to help Armand in his last few days. Armand's ashes will take rest beside his wife, Eva, and his daughter, MaryAnn in the Golden Oaks Gardens in Oakville, Ontario. Family and friends will gather on Sunday, February 19, 2012 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the "Top of the Mark", in the Applewood Condominium building, 1300 Bloor Street East, corner of Bloor and Dixie Road in Mississauga to celebrate Armand's life and share our wonderful memories. During his final years, Armand wrote his autobiography to share the history of his life; to us, he became a legend. Armand was a man of great character and great faith and we were proud to call him our "Boompa." The Habs have lost their greatest fan. Donations to the charity of your choice in his memory would be appreciated.
