CtK student honoured Nicole Walker (left) of Christ the King Secondary School recently accepted a Spirit of Inclusion Award from principal Cairine MacDonald at the Halton Catholic District School Board office. The award is given to a student who is involved in extra-curricular activities; demonstrates acts of friendship; exhibits strong school spirit; is committed to school activities; is involved in the spiritual life of the school and causes others to be valued and included. Walker represented CtK against all other HCDSB secondary schools and it marked the first time a CtK student has won the honour. Strike a Cure will be held from 8 p.m. until midnight at Georgetown Bowl to raise money for pancreatic cancer research. Organizer of the fundraiser, area resident Tony Hayward, whose mother has been diagnosed with the disease, is hoping to bring in $5,000 towards research for pancreatic cancer, which he said is underfunded. For a $20 per person, or $50 per family, donation there will be unlimited five-pin bowling (shoes included), raffles, a toonie toss, 50/50 draw, pizza, cold cuts and beverages all in support of the Pancreatic Cancer Society.
