Canadian Interuniversity Sport recently announced its major award winners and All-Canadian teams recently in Hamilton and Briscoe was named to the All-Rookie team, marking the first time a member of the Ryerson women's volleyball program has earned national recognition. She was also nominated to receive the CIS Rookie of the Year. At only 5-foot-9, the Georgetown District High School graduate is considered short for her position as a middle blocker and has had to overcome the hurdle regarding her height. Submitted photo Trent's finest Field lacrosse player Joey McClement of Georgetown and rower Maija Robinson shared the 2012 Arthur Cup, the most prestigious award for graduating Trent University students who have demonstrated outstanding contribution, sportsmanship, participation and leadership in the school's athletic programs. McClement, a 5-foot-10 middle, was the Excalibur's captain in his fourth year and his contributions to the team did not come on the score sheet, as he has been a long pole defender throughout his career, but came in the form of leadership and instruction to the younger players.
