Rohan Boney, one of the most highly-regarded prospects from this year's class of Ontario high school graduates, has committed to McMaster University for next season. The forward will join former Hawks teammate Adam Presutti on the Marauders basketball team. Presutti was recently named the Canadian Interuniversity Sport men's basketball rookie of the year for the 2011-12 season. "Rohan immediately changes the look of our team. With his athleticism, we now have a player who can score and create in a variety of ways that complements the strong outside shooting of our current guards," said McMaster head coach Amos Connolly. "Rohan can also defend a number of positions, and he'll immediately be called upon to be a defensive stopper. His combination of size and quickness will allow us to extend our pressure when needed. "This is very exciting because our team just got better." During Boney's tenure at Loyola, the Hawks won three Halton Tier 1 championships and two Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations (OFSAA) silver medals. Boney was also named the MVP of the prestigious Silver Fox tournament this past season. Ex-Titan MVP of NY tourney Former Holy Trinity student Anthony Pate was recently recognized in the New York Post for his play with his prep school basketball team. Pate, a junior guard, had 18 points and hit a game-winning three-pointer with 1.1 seconds left to give the Long Island Lutherans a 62-61 win over Harborfield in the New York State Federation Class A championship game. "We actually talked about what would happen if I had the ball at the end of the game," the Lutheran shooting guard told Newsday of a pregame chat with teammates. "I told them I'd make it. Wow. That's a little foreshadowing." Pate was named MVP of the tournament, his third MVP selection this season. Last week, Pate was also inducted into the National Honor Society in recognition of his academic achievements.
