The show started on Thursday, April 5 and continues to Saturday, April 7 at the Glen Abbey Recreation Centre, 1415 Third Line. The show runs Easter weekend -- Thursday, Good Friday and Saturday but not on Easter Sunday. It will showcase the latest products and services for the home. "Our surveys have shown that Oakville consumers enjoy shopping at the home show because it is convenient, saves them time, money and they can deal with local businesses," show manager Dave Jenkins, of Jenkins Show Productions, which hosts the event, said in a press release. "We have more than 131 excellent companies exhibiting this year." On Saturday, April 7 at 1 p.m., gardener Mark Cullen will speak about the latest trends and offer tips on how to keep a healthier garden. Also appearing live on stage throughout the weekend is Rudy Van Amelsvoort who will speak about bathroom renovations and give tips and ideas from design to finish. Other exhibits cover backyard landscaping, air-conditioning and furnace, flooring, roofing, kitchen designs, cookware, and lawn experts, among others. Back again this year is the show's We'll Move The Earth For You Contest where more than 8,000 pounds of bagged soil will be awarded as prizes. Four 2,000-pound bags (one cubic yard) of prime black gardening soil will also be given away. Contest winners will also have the bags delivered right to their driveway. "We are inviting everyone in Oakville to be Oakville Proud this year and come enjoy the three-day event," stated Jenkins. "This is a true community home show where you can talk with local companies and save money on some excellent one-time show specials." Last year, more than 8,000 shoppers attended the home show. Show hours are: Thursday (April 5) from 3-8 p.m.; Friday (April 6) from 11 a.m.-9 p.m.; and Saturday (April 7) from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Admission costs $3, while children aged 12 and under get in for free -- seniors will get free admission on Friday, April 6.
