Hinchcliffe fourth in IndyCar point standings so far Oakville's James Hinchcliffe was once again in contention for his first IndyCar podium finish last weekend, but some bad luck on the final restart relegated him to a sixth-place finish. Hinchcliffe qualified second for the Honda Grand Prix of Alabama at Barber Park, putting him in the front row on the starting grid for the first time in his career. He spent much of the race in the top three, even leading a couple of laps during pit stops. Hinchcliffe was third when a caution flag came out with 25 laps to go. Having to slow down on the track for the caution allowed Helio Castroveves, who was in the pits at the time, to get out ahead of him. "That yellow came out and because of the way the time line works coming out of the pits they gave (Helio Castroneves) the spot and again I got stuck on the outside for the restart," Hinchcliffe said. That would prove to be critical as Castroneves forced Hinchcliffe wide on the restart. "Graham (Rahal) got around me and that gave (Simon) Pagenaud the run and we lost two spots that we shouldn't have. It's pretty disappointing given where we started. I was hoping for a better result for the Go Daddy car but we brought home some points." Hinchcliffe still sits fourth overall in the driver standings heading into the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach Apr. 15. "We'll chalk it up to experience and move on to Long Beach," said Hinchcliffe, who has a career-best fourth-place finish at the California street course as well as a win and a third-place finish in his two seasons of Indy Lights. 33 · Friday, April 6, 2012 OAKVILLE BEAVER · www.insideHALTON.com ONE OF EACH: The Oakville Vytis midget boys' Break basketball team has now earned gold, silver and bronze medals in tournament play this season.
