The two Oakville players were named to the Canada under-18 team for the IIHF under-18 world championships in the Czech Republic. The tournament begins tomorrow (Thursday) and concludes April 22. Laughton had 21 goals and 53 points in his second season with the Oshawa Generals. He added two goals and three assists in a six-game opening-round loss to the Niagara IceDogs. He has 33 goals and 76 points in two seasons since being drafted third overall by Oshawa in the 2010 OHL draft. Laughton, who is eligible for this year's NHL draft, has had great success in international play. He won a gold medal with Ontario at the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge and scored the winning goal as Canada claimed gold at the Ivan Hlinka Tournament with a 4-1 win over Sweden in last August. Martin went 2-7-1 with a 3.98 goals-against average and an .885 save percentage for the Mississauga St. Michael's Majors. The 16-year-old is the second-youngest player on the team, which includes just four players born in 1995. Mississauga lost its first-round series to the Barrie Colts in six games.
