Businesses, schools to participate on Friday in the 22-Minute Makeover Halton Hills is ready to celebrate the 22-Minute Makeover on Friday, April 20. Thousands of students and employees will be out in full force picking up litter and generally tidying up Mother Earth. It is expected that all Halton Hills schools, including all elementary, secondary and independent schools will participate again this year. Businesses such as Sheridan Nurseries participate every year by sending a contingent of employees to collect truckloads of litter in rural Halton Hills. It is hoped that more businesses will see the value in participating this year. Employees from the Town of Halton Hills make up the largest employee group to participate. Each Department selects a different location to scour with a friendly competion to see which group collects the most trash. "We like to lead by example so our Town employees are encouraged to help out. It is all voluntary, but we make it fun," said Mayor Rick Bonnette. Businesses wishing to participate are asked to register their cleanup locations with the Town of Halton Hills, Infrastructure Services Department, Public Works Division at 905-873-2601 ext. 2603. Free gloves and bags are available at the Robert C. Austin Operations Centre located at 11620 Trafalgar Road, Georgetown. 3 The IFP · Earth Week, Thursday, April 19, 2012 In preparation for the upcoming 22 Minute Makeover April 20, McDonald's restaurant manager Greg Carlton (left) and owner Tim O'Connor, (right) joined with Prosperity One branch manager Mark Pearce and financial services officer Samantha Dixon, as they tried out the gloves and garbage bags that will be available at all three Halton Hills McDonald's (Acton, Georgetown and Walmart) to assist with the makeover.
