Vigil is for missing adults A candlelight vigil to support the families of missing adults will take place on Thursday, April 26, at the Hilton Garden Inn, located at 2774 South Sheridan Way. The event, which is part of the National Victims of Crime Awareness Week 2012, is intended to shine a light on the thousands of missing adults in Canada, the unique agony their families face of `not knowing' and the crucial role the public can play in solving these mysteries. The candlelight vigil is open to the public and is being organized by Ontario's Missing Adults, an Ottawa-based organization devoted to finding the missing and providing support for searching families. The vigil will last from 7-8 p.m. and includes 11 · Friday, April 20, 2012 OAKVILLE BEAVER · www.insideHALTON.com speakers from law enforcement, the media, the federal government (Sue O'Sullivan, Federal Ombudsman for Victims of Crime) and most importantly families of the missing who will share their personal stories. The day after the vigil, families of the missing will attend a workshop where they will talk and listen to the experiences and stories of other families dealing with the same trauma. The workshop, titled Moving Forward with Families of Missing Adults, will include an informational component about processes and services available for the families of missing adults. Space at this workshop is limited to families/ individuals.
