www.insideHALTON.com · OAKVILLE BEAVER Friday, April 20, 2012 · 4 Builder to construct public park and trail system Continued from page 1 reached between the Town and Edgemere Estates," said Oakville Mayor Rob Burton. "Creating public access to our waterfront and expanding our trail systems meets our goal of creating a sustainable community, and ensures future generations can enjoy this beautiful area." As part of the settlement agreement, Town staff said, Edgemere Estate Limited has dedicated a 15-metre wide linear strip of waterfront property together with connecting pathways. Town staff also said a public park and trail system would be constructed and paid for by the builder. Construction continues at Edgemere Estates where Edgemere Estate Limited is constructing 30 private residences in what the developer is calling a first-of-its-kind, purpose-built estate condominium development. Development of the public waterfront access and trails will be phased-in as the homes are constructed. Priced from $2.5 million, the one and two level residences, which will be housed in 10 buildings at 1502 Lakeshore Rd., E., are being advertised as the perfect turnkey solution for people looking to simplify life and enjoy a relaxed and refined existence without the stresses and concerns of home ownership. When opened for occupancy in the summer of 2013, Edgemere Private Residences will offer professional property management and concierge services, gardening, grounds keeping and coordinated home maintenance. The residences will be located on the restored, original grounds of Edgemere Estate. "Edgemere residences give investors the opportunity to own prime lakefront real estate in arguably one of the most desirable and afflu- ent communities in Ontario. We couldn't be more excited to see the vision we have for this project come to fruition," said Marc Hewitt, president of Edgemere Estates Ltd. Once owned by James Ryrie, business partner of Canadian jewellery icon Henry Birks, the 12-acre property, which spans nearly 1,000-feet of Lake Ontario shoreline, has a rich history and continues to be one of the most significant private waterfront properties in the country. Originally designed for Ryrie by Burke and Horwood Architects, the country cottage and surrounding structures were interpretations of the Arts & Crafts style, a movement that dominated British architecture in the mid 1800's. The future residents of Edgemere Estates will have use of the original Keeper's Lodge, also designed in this style, as a three-bedroom guesthouse. michael ivanin / OAKVILLE BEAVER / @halton_photog construction zone: Edgemere Estates is under construction as estate condominiums are built. The Town of Oakville has secured a portion of lakefront land on the site to be used as a public park and trail. The project has been recognized with multiple BILD (Building Industry and Land Development Association) awards, including 2010's Project of the Year.
