Searching for info on dog Charities said to be at risk Continued from page 6 Continued from page 6 9 · Friday, April 27, 2012 OAKVILLE BEAVER · www.insideHALTON.com to let him pass. As he passed, the dog lunged and bit my son in the arm leaving several puncture wounds. My son stopped temporarily to examine his arm, and after the shock of the moment, continued on to work. No information was exchanged nor was offered by the woman. My son was soon treated at the hospital and is currently on antibiotics. The dog was black, somewhat shaggy and is perhaps a lab mix. It is extremely important the Halton Region Health Department and myself determine if the dog has had its current rabies vaccinations. If you are the owner of this dog, witnessed the occurrence, or can assist with any information, please contact us at 905-467-4918. We completely understand and appreciate the municipality's desire to prohibit slots and VLTs in the community, but the mixing of these concerns with our revitalization is nothing more than a red herring given the province-wide exclusion of these products from the bingo modernization initiative. This exclusion has been repeatedly made clear to the mayor and council through ministerial direction and through documentation provided by both OLG and the hall operator. The creation of a special deal for Oakville, or any other municipality, would threaten to derail the entire initiative, given the number of municipalities involved. Councillor Damoff's concerns regarding the potential risks to charities should council continue to demand a special deal for Oakville and refuse to sign onto the province-wide standard agreement is real. Council has indeed put this important revitalization opportunity for Oakville charities at risk by making these extra demands on OLG. Seven other municipalities have now agreed to this same standard contract without any additional provisions and will be moving forward to support their local charities. The charities in Oakville are very clearly at risk given the current position of council. Again, we wish to convey a very sincere thanks to Councillor Damoff for her efforts.
