Entitled "Supporting Family Centred Care: Implementation of a Volunteer Program in ICU", the poster features a new role for volunteers on the ICU interdisciplinary team. As members of the ICU care team, volunteers help to expand the culture of care to include the patient's family. They welcome and orient new patients and their families to the unit and the hospital by providing practical information to make their time in the hospital easier. They also provide companionship and comfort measures, and engage patients in friendly conversation and meaningful social interactions. In addition, the volunteers liaise between the patient and their family, and the care team by communicating any key concerns directly to nursing staff and conducting Family Satisfaction Surveys. This achievement underscores the commitment and teamwork of the staff and volunteers to enhance the patients' and their families' ICU experience. Congratulations to all!
