During this week, Halton Region and local hospitals recognize physicians for their contribution to our community. The week was originally designated in 2003 Gary Carr - Halton Regional Chair by the Halton Physician Recruitment program which aims to ensure that each and every resident in Halton has access to effective health services today and in the future. To achieve this goal, Halton works together with our Local Municipalities, physicians, local hospitals, the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care and others. These efforts are paying off. Halton Region's award winning Physician Recruitment program has attracted and retained a record number of physicians, helping to bring 160 new family doctors to Halton since 2003.
