Lantern light to float into the night at Gairloch Thursday Two organizations dedicated to helping people who are grieving will host the inaugural Remember our Love Memorial Night. Together with Remember our Love, an organization dedicated to assisting grieving families through loss, The Lighthouse Program for Grieving Children will host a memorial hour tomorrow (Thursday) to remember those who have died. "Grief is often thought of as only sorrow. Instead, grief is sorrow and love, as the sadness over the death of a loved one is fundamentally based on our love for the person and the life we shared," Britta Martini-Miles, executive director of The Lighthouse Program, stated in a press release. "The lantern event symbolizes beautifully what our community at The Lighthouse is about: an acknowledgement of loss and grief, shared feelings and support, and the belief in continued love of the ones we lost and the ones who remain in our lives -- the lanterns symbolize this love and the warmth and light that each life carries." The event was initiated by Nikki Ide, a Lighthouse parent and mother of Gabrielle, who died at the age of five from complications related to congenital heart disease -- Gabrielle's birthday is May 10; she would have turned seven this year. "I hope everyone in attendance experiences the love and peace that a supportive community can bring," Ide said in the release. "I am fortunate to be frequently reminded of the beauty that exists in the darkness of tragedy.
