Latin fiesta with the symphony The Oakville Symphony Orchestra is turning up the heat a few degrees for its upcoming pair of concerts on Saturday and Sunday (May 12, 13). The orchestra's Fiesta concerts will feature Latin music, including a performance by Canadian guitarist Polovios Issaraoitis. Issaraoitis will join the orchestra in the performance of Spanish composer Joaquín Rodrigo's Concierto de Aranjuez. The concert will also feature a performance of Tres Danzas Espanolas by Spanish Jazz concert on Mother's Day The George Grosman Quartet will perform on Mother's Day, Sunday, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Halton Region Museum inside Kelso Conservation Area. The jazz ensemble, featuring Grosman on guitar and vocals, Kelsey McNulty on piano and accordion, Fergus Marsh on Chapman Stick and Morgan Doctor on drums, will wind up the Museum's jazz series. 35 · Friday, May 11, 2012 OAKVILLE BEAVER · www.insideHALTON.com pianist and composer Enrique Granados. Brass splendour at season's end The Intrada Brass of Oakville wants to showcase the splendor of brass and percussion music at its season-finale concert. The concert, titled Splendour in the Brass, takes place at St. John's United Church on Sunday. The show will feature music by some of the world's greatest composers. The music will include Romanticcomposer Emmanuel Chabrier's Marche Joyeuse, Dmitri Shostakovich's Folk Dances, Sir Malcolm Arnold's Four Cornish Dances, and the Pie Jesu movement from Gabriel Fauré's Requiem. The concert will also include two original pieces for brass and percussion. They are Armenian Fire Dance by Goff Richards and Serenade by Derek Bourgeois, which the composer wrote for his own wedding.
