Lisa Hoekstra, Director of Children and Youth Services for Links to Care, said vandals broke into the James St. facility during the overnight hours May 5-6 causing damage by tossing papers around, overturning garbage cans and discharging fire extinguishers throughout the building, leaving yellow dust scattered everywhere. A small quantity of cash was also taken. "Due to the fact we provide programs and services to families with children 0-6 we had to close the centre to clean up all the fire extinguisher dust that covered all our toys and furniture," said Hoekstra. The Centre was closed for the week and staff and volunteers worked tirelessly to clean up the damage, most of it caused by the discharged fire extinguishers. "It's been a real inconvenience," said Hoekstra. `It was a big, big mess," said Hoekstra. "We've had a lot of people who have called to offer help or just come by. We're really touched by that." She said parents have also made donations. "We want to thank all the community for their support and help," said Hoekstra. Call your sales representative 905-873-0301 TODAY!
