The awards, which can be received by individuals, groups, organizations or businesses, are presented to those who demonstrate ongoing leadership, dedication and involvement in Oakville. The Community Spirit Awards are divided into eight categories. Access Award · Stephen Cull and Pinegrove Public School (Al Barrett, Lisa Miali, Mikaela DeSilva, and Wynne Ann Huinink) have been nominated for the Access Award. The Access Award, sponsored by MEDIchair Halton, recognizes those who have made or are making a significant or ongoing volunteer contribution, beyond legislated requirements, to the well-being and advancement of people with disabilities. Arts Award · David Foster, Jean Grieve and Chloe Shackelton have been nominated for the Arts Award. The Arts Award, sponsored by The Oakville Beaver, recognizes those who, through their volunteerism, have contributed to nurturing and enhancing the arts in Oakville. Environmental Award · Nora and Dan Fulcher and Blake Poland have been nominated for the Environmental Award. The Environmental Award, sponsored by Tim Hortons, recognizes those whose outstanding voluntary contribution of environmental stewardship has helped to enhance or protect Oakville's environment. Group Volunteer Award · The Enza Natural Health Centre and Day Spa, Halton Food For Thought, the Halton Unit Canadian Cancer Society Transportation Volunteers, and the Walls of Hope have been nominated for the Group Volunteer Award. The Group Volunteer Award, sponsored by Sun Life Financial, recognizes those who have come together to volunteer their time towards a shared goal/activity or event involving leadership, innovation and creativity. Activities or events can benefit all ages. Heritage and History Award by Sunrise Senior Living, recognizes a senior or group (65 years of age or older) that has made an outstanding voluntary contribution to the Oakville community. Youth Award · The Oakville Trafalgar Student Volunteers High School Lunch Buddies Club and the Youth Alpha Leadership Team have been nominated for the Youth Award. The Youth Award recognizes a youth or group (18 years of age or younger) that has made positive contributions towards enriching Oakville's quality of life. The 11th annual Community Spirit Awards will be held on Wednesday, June 13 at the Oakville Conference and Banquet Centre, 2515 Wyecroft Rd. Individual Volunteer Award · Cheryl Kozak, Sera Mansueto, Niki McLaughlin, George Murray, Bryan Pryde and Bob Trillia have been nominated for the Individual Volunteer Award. The Individual Volunteer Award, sponsored by Paradiso Restaurant, recognizes those who have made outstanding volunteer contributions towards improving the wellbeing of Oakville residents of any age group. Senior Award · Darlene Cox and Colin Woodcock have been nominated for the Senior Award.
