Against a field of 600 teams, Oakville's Pi-lons robotics team was able to stand out from the crowd at the VEX World Championships held in Anaheim, California last month. The team of 11 high school students, hailing from Oakville's E-Bots, managed to pick up some hardware at the tournament. Though the team was not part of the world championship-winning alliance at the tournament, it managed to impress the judges to pick up some team awards. The team won the Programming Skills Champion award. Furthermore, the team won a Judges Award for their division. The team's robot game animation brought them secondplace hardware, while its promotional video production resulted in a third place finish. VEX robotics consists of approximately 5,000 teams worldwide, 600 of which received invites to the world championship after winning local tournaments. The Pi-lons team consists of Jacob Rampertab, Amanda Rampertab, Sam Rasmussen, Ella Rasmussen, Ryan Chiricosta, all from Oakville, as well as Henry Boyd, Chris Lyons, Eddie Schmidt, Jack Enders, Anthony Meola and Pranali Rathi, who hail from various parts of southern Ontario. · Haircuts for kids in specialty cars · Private parties for boys and girls · Boutique style shopping WHAT WE DO: $16 GRAND OPENING SPECIAL · Game Systems and DVDs for older kids · Updos, Highlights and Feathers 380 Dundas Street East, Oakville (SE Corner of Trafalgar and Dundas) Call (905) 257-7750 for your appointment today! *Not valid in conjunction with any other offer.
