The program, introduced in May of last year, was recognized by the Hamilton chapter of the Canadian Public Relations Society after it came first in the Internal Communications category. Stayin' Alive is an employee-focused program, which promotes and builds a culture of safety in the workplace, at home and in the community. Oakville Hydro staff said what sets the program apart is the constantly reinforced safety message, communication tactics and high level of employee engagement. "To have this initiative acknowledged and awarded by the communications industry is wonderful. We're very proud and honoured to have been recognized," Oakville Hydro President and CEO Rob Lister said in a press release announcing the award. "Safety is the first priority at Oakville Hydro and the Stayin' Alive safety program allows us to communicate this message in various ways, continuously engaging employees and enhancing the culture of safety." The program was developed by the strategic communications agency Kennedy Jones & Sweeney Inc., in collaboration with the graphics team from Fizzz Design Corp., and the production team from Burlington Business Forms.
