Forest Trail finished second in the boys' race, helping the Coyotes to the overall intermediate championship at the meet. Eastview, Heritage Glen, Pine Grove, Post's Corners, Sunningdale and W.H. Morden were the other local schools to post top-six finishes in at least one event. Students from Grades 6-8 competed in either a 4x100metre or 4x400m relay at the meet, which drew 49 elementary schools from across the region. Below is a list of local top-six finishers at the Harker meet. another silver medal." Guay won two silvers at OFSAA a year ago and added a third a day earlier in the 400m, where she narrowly missed out on her first gold. She came in just 0.16 seconds behind London's Taylor Sharpe in the junior girls 400m. A two-time Golden Horseshoe crosscountry champion, Guay had always run distance races in elementary school. But last year Abbey Park coach Greg Dailey entered her in 200m, 400m and 800m races as well. By the time the provincial high school championships rolled around, she had qualified for three events but dropped the longest of them, the 1,500m. This year, Dailey took it another step further and entered Guay in some 100m races. With Guay having set school records for midget girls from 200m to 3,000m, he thought he'd see if she could "cover the board" as a junior. It would pay unexpected benefits, though. "It's the perfect combination," Dailey said. "If someone takes the race out hard, she can stay with them and she's got that finishing kick. From a coaching standpoint, it's ideal." "It's good to have both sides of it," Guay said. "I can take the race and use different strategies." Dailey said Guay executed her strategy perfectly in the 400m but came up just short at the line against last year's midget champion. Guay took the lead and Taylor caught her around the 300m mark. Guay made up ground down the final stretch but Taylor just held her off to win in 57.43 seconds. Kelly Hennessy also earned a medal at the OFSAA meet, bringing home a bronze in the senior girls' 3,000m. That gives the St. Thomas Aquinas student a full set of OFSAA track medals after winning a gold (3,000m) and silver (1,500m) in 2010. Hennessy held off Toronto's Sarah Emilio by two-tenths of a second to take the bronze in 10:02.54. Hennessy also finished sixth in the senior girls 1,500m with a time of 4:39.60. Blakelock's Brandon Tyrell just missed out on the podium, finishing fourth in the junior boys 100m with a time of 11.06 seconds. Holy Trinity's Brandon Cyrus finished fifth in the midget boys high jump, clearing 1.75m. -- Herb Garbutt can be followed on Twitter @Herbgarbutt HARKER SENIOR RELAYRESULTS JUNIOR Girls 4x100m (Rec. 56.40) 6.
