Assists went to Chris Dunlop, Stanley Plunkett, Erich Haefner and Reid Roberts. Next up was the Home town team from Schomberg. A slow start found Acton down 4-1 after one period. Acton was given a penalty with less than two minutes left. That didn't deter the character of this team as Reid Roberts came through with a short-handed goal with a minute left in the game to give Acton a lead they would not relinquish even with the goalie pulled and facing a 6 on 4 winning the game 5-4. Acton goals: Reilly Constable (2), Brock Fagan, Brodey Northey and Roberts. Assists go to Matt Field, Stanley Plunkett, Jason Goodfellow, Matt Dawkins and Griffin Robinson. Tanner BB Novice squad face Woolwich on Saturday The Chudleighs Novice A c t o n B B Ta n n e r s competed recently at the Hespeler Olympics, and had mixed results, but an overall successful showing in the higher Division `A' tournament. They started against the Owen Sound Jr. Attack who quickly went up 2-0 in three minutes. Acton regrouped and Jackson Philips slid one through the goalie from James Palmer. Owen Sound regained the two goal lead before Matthew Geim lifted one over the goalie from Evan Ashe and Palmer. Before the end of the wild first, Riley Drexler banged one in from Jaret Rosenburg to deadlock it 3-3. From t h e r e , t h e Ta n n e r s ' defence of Thomas Holmes, Benoit Cuerrier, Jordan Caruso and Palmer and timely saves from Matthew Lantz shut down the Attack offense. In the second, Owen Kennedy found Geim who gave Acton their first lead, and in the third, Rosenburg sent Kennedy in to notch the insurance marker in the 5-3 win. L a t e r, t h e O r i l l i a Terriers opened up a 6-0 lead, but Acton ended the loss on a high note with 21 seconds left when Rosenburg scored from Philips and Drexler. Next, was a tight checking game against Georgetown. After a scoreless first, the Raiders opened the scoring in the second. Then Acton's Philips and Holmes combined to setup Rosenburg to tie it up. Georgetown took the 2-1 lead minutes later and both goalies shut the door the rest of the way. Finally, Acton took on the desperate TNT Tornados who needed a win to advance to the semi-finals. TNT were up 2-0 late in the third, and cruising to victory, before the tenacious Tanners came alive. First, Drexler passed to Rosenburg who deked out the goalie to start the comeback. With two minutes left, Geim was hauled down on a breakaway. In dramatic Strong showing for Novice Tanners fashion, Geim made no mistake on the ensuing penalty shot as he wristed the equalizer top shelf past the beleaguered Tornados goalie.
