GTA corridor meeting Some of the community outreach suggested by the Minister of Tr a n s p o r t a t i o n o v e r the location of two proposed freeways through Halton Hills will take place at a January 19 meeting between Ministry of Transportation (MTO) officials and the executive committee of CRASHH Concerned Residents Against Superhighways, Halton Hills. Faced with a strong c i t i z e n l o b b y, t h e province delayed the planning process so additional analysis of the Town's preferred option could be studied before the GTA West Strategy is approved. CRASHH founder Wendy Bruchal said they want to know what further studies will be done, and what else the MTO needs to make a "graceful" retreat from proposals which include a multi-lane east-west highway running across prime farmland south of Georgetown.. Vandalism anger "Disappointed." "Outraged." "Appalled." Halton Hills Mayor Rick Bonnette expressed the feelings of many as he reacted to the recent "nonsensical" acts of costly vandalism at several Georgetown sports fields. A vehicle was driv- en onto the fields, leaving deep ruts and torn grass which could cost more than $15,000 to repair. At council on Monday, Bonnette suggested the perpetrator(s) had the "IQ of road kill" and he hoped that surveillance video, or a citizen's tip, would lead to arrests.
