Noah Bloch, a swimmer with the Oakville Aquatic Club who completed the swim last Wednesday (June 20), is good friends with the Newman brothers Thomas, Joshua and James, and felt the need to help where he could in the wake of recent tragic events. On Jan. 12, the boys' mother, Katherine Newman, 43, was found murdered in her Treetop Terrace home. At about the same time, her estranged husband Kyle Newman, 43, was fatally shot by Halton police after he charged officers with a knife in his hand at the police station at 95 Oak Walk Dr. Halton police have yet to officially link the two incidents. "I really wanted to help out my friends," said Noah. "I wanted to make sure they have the money they need to go to good universities and stuff."
