MacDonald also won the 400m race to help Pine Grove win the overall meet championship. See page 19 for results from the meet. For the first time in five years, the Oakville Buzz is headed to the second round of the Ontario Lacrosse Association junior B playoffs. The Buzz's reward? A date with the league's most dominant team. Oakville finished off a firstround sweep of Newmarket Friday at Glen Abbey Recreation Centre, overcoming an early 3-1 deficit with eight consecutive goals and holding on for a 9-5 victory over the Saints. Robert Bentivegna, one of several fifthyear players on the Buzz, led the Oakville attack with five goals and an assist. Mike Beirgard added two goals and a helper while Todd Nakasuji and Ryan Callaghan supplied the other Oakville markers in support of winning goaltender Ian Duffy. The Buzz will now face the top seed in the East Conference, the Akwesasne Indians, in the second round. The series will begin this weekend, with Oakville home for the first two games Saturday and Sunday before Akwesasne hosts the remainder of the bestof-five series. The Indians won the lone meeting between the clubs during the regular season, a 9-5 decision at Glen Abbey May 26, and ousted the Buzz from the playoffs last spring. Akwesasne also toyed with the league at both ends of the floor during the regular season, scoring a league-high 363 goals (54 more than any other team) and allowing just 121 (the second-fewest in the loop) en route to a 19-1 record. But fourth-seeded Oakville isn't prepared to concede anything to the Indians, especially considering the Buzz has won 11 of its past 13 games. "Our defence is a lot stronger now.
