Around 3:20 a.m. on Monday, June 25, an onsite security guard was sitting in his vehicle at the industrial site at 2351 Winston Park Dr., when two men approached him. Police said the suspects tied up and blindfolded the guard who was then struck over the head with an object. The suspects then proceeded to drive three stolen transport trucks onto the lot at which point, police said, they loaded one of the trailers with a large amount of tires and left, abandoning the other two trucks. Approximately 750 P245/60R18-type Michelin Tires were stolen during this incident. These tires were valued at more than $80,000. The stolen 53-foot trailer has the name Chester Cartage in black lettering down both sides and the front of the trailer bears BC130 in bold black letters. At the time of the theft, the trailer had an Ontario licence plate that read X15841. The other two transport trucks were recovered at the scene and had been stolen from York Region. The security guard received only minor injuries during the robbery and did not require hospitalization. Police were only able to get a limited description of the second suspect who is described as black, wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt and work gloves.
