The Oakville Public Library is giving you a chance to look into the future with our upcoming Programs & Events Guide for Fall/ Winter 2012-2013, which hit the stands this month. We have a program or event for every age and interest: · Adults -- we have book clubs, tech help, genealogy workshops, and the ever popular author events. Join us this fall for An Evening with Miranda Hill. Wife of best-selling author Laurence Hill, and founder of Project Bookmark, Miranda will share her virtuoso debut short story collection Sleeping Funny. The collection has a variety of stories, such as a 16-year-old navigating an embarrassing sex-ed class, a middle-aged minister experiencing a devastating crisis of faith in a 19th century rural village, the widow of a pilot coping with her grief by growing an unusual "victory garden" during the Second World War, and well-heeled modern professional women juggling jobs, kids, and husbands, and trying to cope with the arrival of a beautiful bohemian neighbour, on a gentrified street in downtown Toronto, among others. · Teens -- aspiring writers can take part in the Write2Xpress contest, we have drawing workshops, a career exploration fair and Teen Book Clubs. Our Teen Book Club is shaking things up this year; there will be seven incredible titles, but no theme. That means a little bit for everyone: fantasy, science fiction, vampire, dystopia, and mystery. · Kids -- we've got programs and events for kids of all ages and interests. Storytimes, Lego Robotics, interactive play, and special themed book events. Create your own Diary of a Wimpy Kid, celebrate Dr. Seuss' birthday, or join the quest of Percy Jackson and the Gods of Olympus -- whatever floats your boat.
