Still, it's clear Hinchcliffe is a rising star on the IndyCar circuit. For story, see Sports. at the toronto indy: Oakville's James Hinchcliffe had a disappointing finish to Sunday's Toronto Honda Indy. He finished 22nd after having engine trouble a little less than a third of the Canadian Open returns to Glen Abbey in 2013 By Herb Garbutt OAKVILLE BEAVER STAFF The list of memorable moments is long. There was Greg Norman saving bogey from a parking lot on his way to handing Jack Nicklaus one of his three runner-up finishes on the course he designed. Then, Mike Weir's playoff with Vijay Singh, and, of course, Tiger Woods' six-iron from the fairway bunker on the 18th hole -- a shot, which visitors to Glen Abbey Golf Club feel compelled to try to replicate each time they play there. Having hosted the RBC Canadian Open 25 times, Glen Abbey -- once the tournament's permanent home -- will get another chance to add to its highlight reel next year when the PGA Tour returns to Oakville. "It's a wonderful course," said Golf Canada Executive Director and CEO Scott Simmonds. "You or I could go out and play it and feel like we've conquered the same course that the pros did. But when they put those tees back, let the rough grow, narrow the fairways and speed up the greens, it becomes a very tough test of golf even for the best players in the world." The same might be said for many courses in Canada but what really sets the Abbey apart is not how it sets up for golfers, but for the thousands of fans that come out to watch. "Personally, I think it's the most spectatorfriendly course on the planet," Simmonds said. "That's the way Jack designed it." The 2012 RBC Canadian Open is being played at the Hamilton Golf & Country Club July 23-29. Next year, the 2013 Canadian Open will be held July 22-28. It will be the first time the tournament returns to Glen Abbey since it hosted back-toback championships in 2008 and 2009. Both years the weather played havoc with the tournament.
