Lucas said the Town is working with him to resolve this particular issue. Bloomer said the raised curb was chosen not only to assist in drainage, but because there was an issue in the area with cars actually leaving the roadway and driving on the grass shoulder. The raised curb was intended to act as a barrier. Bloomer also pointed out the construction of the curb is not finished and as such residents are not seeing it in the proper context. "I know when you look at the photographs the curb looks a lot more substantial than it really is because it is all currently exposed," said Bloomer. "The back of the curb is totally exposed at the moment. Once we have filled it in with topsoil and graded it with sod you won't see the back of the curb, you are just going to see the top surface of the curb. It just looks a little more stark during construction than it will when everything is tidied up." Rockliffe also complained about the process that resulted in the decision to go with this particular type of curbing. The decision was made during a January meeting of the Heritage Oakville Committee, which Rockliffe said she was not made aware of. Had she known the raised curbing was being considered, she said, she would have brought the entire neighbourhood out to protest it. NIKKI WESLEY / OAKVILLE BEAVER / @halton_photog Lucas said he was made aware of the meeting, but discontent: Beverlie Rockliffe is not happy with the new unsightly was unable to attend. Bloomer said efforts were made to contact Rockliffe curb the Town of Oakville installed in front of only half her home. and make her aware the curbing was being discussed. Rockliffe and Lucas are calling on council to revisit the decision to add this particular type of curbing.
