The school they're helping to build is in Amboseli, a village just outside of Nairobi in Kenya. Some of the school's 300 students walk four hours to get there. Jessica said the school they're using now is constructed of wood that's been battered by the sand and wind and is not suitable for learning. "It is like an old shack you would see on a rundown farm. It's in the middle of the desert. The wind and the sand have eroded the wooden flats that the school was built on," said Jessica. "You can literally see outside the wooden flats because the walls look like tooth picks now." The new school will consist of three rooms, which looks great compared to the "shack" they're currently using, Jessica said. "We're supposed to have it all done within the 12 days. There are 25 international people on the Seva Safari (and) we're working with the local Kenyan construction workers. We're working all-day long, everyday for that time while we're there," said Jessica. AYP programs also provide communication skill building, job training, food stipends and temporary housing. In addition to this, the project has also financed the construction and opening of two new schools and an adult education program for Masai women. "They're able to give back to their communities by offering free classes to over 4,000 people a week -- in schools, prisons or community centres. It is just promoting mind, body and spirit wellness in that difficult society," said Jessica. "It's beyond my wildest imagination to be involved. It's just been such a positive experience.
